/pictures/50x50__tux_helper.png This page is about howto put debian woody on a Compaq Presario 1525 notebook. So why make an effort to make woody run on my notebook ?
It is quit simple, it is because I want a very stable system and a setup that I can bring with me to present to windows users and say; "look at this and what it does and can do!"

I run Debian woody with kernel 2.6.2 and vmware for development. Why run Debian?? well one thing realy rules and that is apt-get !! That is mustly why and because it is very configurable (stable, testing, unstable, experimental)!

System:

  • 2.4Ghz Pentium 4
  • 30Gb harddisk
  • 767Mb ram
  • ATI Radeon 7500 Grafic
  • S-Video out
  • CD-RW/DVD - HL-DT-ST Model: RW/DVD GCC-4240N
  • firewire
  • USB
  • Mulitmedia keys
  • Mouse - synaptics
  • Acer Laboratories Inc. [ALi] M5451 PCI South Bridge Audio
  • Realtech ethernet controller
  • Conexant HSF 56k HSFi Modem

Status:

  • USB - working
  • Multimedia keys - working
  • TV-Out - working
  • CD-RW/DVD - working
  • Mouse Synaptics - working
  • Ehternet - working
  • Firewire - have not tried
  • Modem - working - forgot how though
  • ACPI have not tried very hard so it is not working
